I will be heading to Belang, in Brazil soon, to attend COP30. Ten years since the Paris Agreement, governments are at an inflexion point. The issue is no longer the path. The issue is the pace. More ambition is needed, and it's a solidarity with more support to those who need it most in the climate transition. New national climate action plans must put the world on a path to limiting global warming to 1. 5 degrees rather than to 2. 6 or 2. 9. These are beyond just climate plans, because climate is now a development issue. By delivering on nationally term contributions, countries have a unique opportunity to build resilience, drive the green transition that our world needs, and build jobs and economic rules. Yet, progress is uneven. Funding remains a key challenge. Many countries in the global south, particularly those in fragile and conflict and conflict-affected situations, lack the resources to drive climate action. Cutting development budgets will only slow progress. To move forward, countries need finance, ambition, and a relentless focus on implementation. Unops stand ready to support them, offering practical solutions to help them bridge the gap between ambitions and results.
